Week 10: Advice to Future Participants

Hello future E-teacher scholarship participants
If you were granted E-teacher scholarship at the University of Oregon, here are some tips you would read to succeed the course.
1.     Be glad, ready and willing to expand your horizons in teaching with technology because you do learn lots of new things
2.     Make sure you sign the “Training Agreement” with your sponsor.
3.     Check your email on daily basis
4.     Time zones and locations all around the world change. Therefore, all participants should be very careful because tasks and assignments to contribute to discussion threads on Nicetnet usually are delivered in asynchronous mode (not in real-time). For more information go to www.worldclock.com.
5.      Participants should get a good Internet connectivity, a level of English language proficiency and at least basic computer knowledge (Web browsing, email, word processing, file management etc.)
6.     Please create a Google E-mail account if you do not have one, your Google E-mail account will be the “Portal Web” to blogger, Google Docs, Wikis, Google sites and all Google tools.
7.     Please make sure you use “quotation marks” properly since there is zero tolerance for plagiarized work of any kind. You  will not receive credit toward passing the course on work which has been plagiarized
8.      If case have no a scholarship, the Cost will be $1,000 (USD) per participant.  You must pay the total amount before you start of the course. NOT sure about this, for more info go to http://aei.uoregon.edu/distant.html  or send an email to eteacher@uoregon.edu
If for any reason you want to cancel your registration, you can request for refunds via email or FAX 10 (ten) calendar days before the start date of the course. AEI reserves the right to retain a $25 USD administrative processing fee for each refund.

9.     Make sure you read the “Training Agreement” very well, tell you what and how you have to do your seminar or workshop and about the Certificate you will receive, you do not receive your certificate if do not share what you have learned with at least 30 colleagues from your school or country. This applies for those who are granted a scholarship.

10.                        Grades are usually at http://www.jupitergrades.com so you need to sign in and save your password well, in case you lose it, type your email in the box “forgot/lost your password” and a link will be sent to you with information on how to reset it. So far I know the passing rate is at least 70%.

11.                        If you do not like reading or writing, this course might not be for you, you will be given URLs and asked to browse and read the information placed there and after write about it.
12.                        Here is some extra information
